USAID HealthIT works closely with seven (7) County Proximate Universities namely: Chuka University, Kabarak University, Maseno University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Rongo University, Technical University of Mombasa and Chuka University to offer robust technical assistance to 32 counties on the different health and child protection systems. Working with the Ministry of Health, HealthIT develops, manages, and maintains digital health products addressing county HIS gaps through hackathons hosted by the County Proximate Universities.
USAID HealthIT project continues to support the scale-up of digital health solutions in health facilities in the country. Working the with Ministry of Health, NASCOP, County Health Management Teams from the County Departments of Health, and the 7 County-Proximate Universities, USAID HealthIT has equipped 165 health facilities with ICT equipment among them 40 model facilities during the digital health systems scale-up exercise that took on a 360-degree implementation approach including: ICT infrastructure, technical assistance on Electronic Health Records system deployment, and capacity strengthening of end users on how to use and maintain the infrastructure
