WHO WE ARE

The USAID HealthIT Project works with the Division of Health Informatics in the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Directorate of Children’ Services (DCS) in the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in their journey of digital transformation. The goal of USAID HealthIT is to “contribute towards enhancing evidence-based decision making by all health sector stakeholders through leveraging and strengthening integrated Health Information Systems (HIS)”.

HealthIT supports the Government of Kenya in managing the growth and evolution of sustainable digital health/child protection technologies and data systems that support evidence for action as well as building the capacity of the system users to use and sustain these systems. Such systems include Kenya Health Information System (KHIS), Kenya Master Health Facility/Community List (KMHFL/KMCUL), Early Infant Diagnosis Viral Load (EID/VL), TiBU and MOH Analytics Platform. We have also supported MOH develop e-learning content for new technology solutions, update and roll out e-learning content for the current supported systems i.e., KHIS, Early Infant Diagnosis Viral Load (EID/VL) and Kenya Master Health Facility List (KMHFL) via the MOH Virtual Academy and the DCS Virtual Academy.

To map out the different Implementation Partners in Kenya, HealthIT developed and is maintaining a reporting platform for USAID (PHES) and a Joint Partners Reporting Portal (JPRP) with partner attribution of results in the KHIS· We work with MOH to evolve and enhance the use of integrated Human Resource Information System (iHRIS System) at sub-national units and improve capacity of MOH to manage the evolution of TiBU System for TB reporting. HealthIT supports NASCOP carry out Data Alignment activities for 27 PEPFAR priority counties has been an important task to achieve concordance of data reported in DATIM and KHIS and promote data use in monitoring epidemic control.

HealthIT is also closely working with MOH programs on visualization of commodity data through creation of dashboards on the KHIS. HealthIT has provided technical assistance in the scale up of Kenya Electronic Medical Record (KenyaEMR) system and strengthened its sustainable use in PEPFAR priority counties and health facilities through the provision of ICT infrastructure and capacity building of end users. HealthIT also provides in-county technical support through University of Nairobi and 7 County Proximate Universities.We work with: National AIDS and STI Control Programme, Division of National Malaria Program, Division of Health Informatics, National Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Program Among other MOH agencies

HealthIT also works with the Directorate of Children Services (DCS) to support leadership & governance’s capability to own, manage and ensure the evolution of the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) and with OVC Implementing partners. The project supports DCS at national, regional, county, and sub county children’s offices and statutory institutions and OVC IPs in CPIMS system enhancements, uptake, utilization, and capacity building in the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) for Child Protection and; Orphans and Vulnerable children programming for PEPFAR supported projects.
